Finding Accountability for Your Workouts
by Yuri in Fitness Training
How many times have you thought, “if only I had someone to motivate me, I would exercise and push myself more”?
Lack of motivation is the number 1 set back for many who are trying to reach a fitness goal. The best way to get motivated is finding accountability in your workouts. This doesn’t necessarily mean you need someone standing beside you, pushing you along the way. Take these ideas below and find what works best for your personality.
Personal trainer
Whether you are unfamiliar with how to use gym equipment, or you find it easier to push yourself when someone is their coaching you along the way, personal trainers are one of the best methods of accountability. They plan your workout based upon your goals, health history, and body type. Many personal trainers also set up a nutritional plan for you that fits right in with your exercise regimen.
The only drawback to hiring a personal trainer is the added monthly expense. If it fits within your budget, then get some recommendation for a personal trainer in your area.
Workout buddy
Working out with a partner gives you the extra push you need to meet your fitness goals. After all, you aren’t just in it for you because someone else is relying on you to pull through. Partner workouts allow you to make greater strength gains because you have a spotter during training. They also help you push through difficult workouts, and have you showing up when you would otherwise call for a rain check.
Journaling
If you feel like going solo, but still need accountability, start tracking your progress in a journal. Buy a workout journal, blank notebook, or set up an online journal to log your diet and exercise regimens.
Better yet, join Fitter U Fitness and get all of that (and more) handed to you every single month!
The important part about journaling is to write down every detail. Write down what you eat, the exercises you perform as well as the amount of weight you lift, and how you feel throughout your day. Writing down feelings and emotions is essential to knowing if your plan is working.
Consultation
If you need someone to provide guidance, but cannot afford a personal trainer who charges hourly, then consider a consultation from an expert. Many trainers offer phone consultations to offer advice and insight for you fitness goals. You can also pay for a one time nutrition and exercise plan to get you started in the right direction.
Scrapbooking
Start a scrapbook of fitness inspirations. Cut out recipes, photos, and exercise programs you find in magazines or online. Keeping all of your favorite fitness motivators in a single book will help you visualize your goal more easily.
Planning ahead
You often lose site of your goals when you don’t plan ahead. Write down your weekly workout and menu on Sunday so that you don’t have to think about it on a daily basis. Spend one or two days a week preparing meals for the rest of the days. You will find that coming home and heating up a premade meal will steer you clear of bad food choices and fuel you with energy for the gym.
