3 Keys to Sticking to Your Exercise Program
by Yuri in Fitness Training
In order to stick to an exercise for as long as possible there are many factors that need to be in place.
Today, I want to share 3 of them with you.
1. Progress
If you want to continue exercising regularly, you need to see some kind of progress. As human beings, that’s really what drives us forward and keeps us happy. No one wants to work their butt off and then not see any results.
So you need to be following a fitness program (and eating well) that will produce results. There’s no sense of trying to figure things out on your own. Find a program (like Fitter U Fitness – shameless plug) that actually works!
2. The Right Environment
To get great results and to stay motivated to continue toward your goals, it is helpful if you’re surrounded by the right people and/or environment. You need to find people who will push you and support you at the same time. That’s why having a personal trainer to work with is so helpful.
At the same, using online forums can help you connect to others just like you who are exercising their butts off and living the fit life.
It also helps if you exercise in an environment that inspires you. One of the gyms I used to be a member of was in a basement! No natural light and it was just depressing. For me, I need natural light and preferably a lot of it. That’s why I love working out outdoors. Find what works for you and then go after it.
3. The Right Program
I briefly alluded to this in my first point, but I think it really needs to be understand. Every time I go to the gym, I see so many people wasting their time and lifting improperly. The way most people do it is they buy a magazine, cut out of the workout of the month and give it a go. Or they download an ebook and try to follow along in a similar fashion.
Sure these may work to some degree, and they’re definitely better than inventing stuff on your own, but I challenge you to take your workouts to the next level.
The reason I developed my iPod workouts was to help people not only with step-by-step guidance through their workouts but also to motivate and push them when the going gets tough. You simply can’t get that from reading an ebook or looking at a magazine.
These are 3 simple things that can make a big difference for you and help you stay on course with your fitness program. At the end of the day, you need to find what’s going to work well for you and be totally committed to achieving your goals!
