Kettlebell Workout
by Yuri in Yuri's Workouts
The other day I was in the mood for a great kettlebell workout.Â
I think what has happened is that I’ve become totally turned off by going to the gym and thus wanted a workout I could do at home while still building strength and power.
This kettlebell workout made me realize that I can cancel my gym membership and get all I need in the comfort of my own living room.
See ya later Goodlife Fitness!!!
Before giving you the details of my workout, I feel I should mention a few of the benefits of kettlebell training. In my mind, if it comes from the Eastern Bloc then it’s got to be good.
- Kettlebells allow you to train movements – not muscles!
- Kettlebell workout focus on speed of execution – and thus power!
- KBs are awesome for training your cardiovascular system – just try doing swings for 1 minute straight and you’ll see what I mean.
- They are great for developing sport-specific power for movements like throwing, jumping, and swinging!
Those are just a few benefits that caused me to fork over $200 to buy just 2 kettlebells.
But believe me…
They are worth every single penny.
My Kettlebell Workout
So now let me tell you what my home workout looked like:
Warm-up: 5 minutes of rebounding (jumping on the trampoline)
SUPERSET #1 (3 sets)
KB Swings x 1 minute @ 24 kg
Depth Push-ups (through kettlebells) x max
SUPERSET # 2 (3 sets)
1-Arm KB Swings x 30 seconds/arm @ 18 kg
KB Straight Leg Deadlifts x 30 seconds @ 24 kg
SUPERSET # (3 sets)
KB Snatches x 8 reps/arm @ 18 kg
Upright Rows x 30 seconds @ 18 kg
* this last superset was not a great combination. Two very similar movements back to back – not the best idea.
This workout took me exactly 25 minutes. I did most of it on my patio and got to enjoy an EPL match between Chelsea and Hull City at the same time.Â
What else could I possibly ask for?
Kettlebells are just one tool you can use to enjoy some incredible home workouts.Â
Try this one for yourself and see what I mean.
