5 Ways to Make Exercise More Enjoyable
by Yuri in Fitness Training
It’s a sad truth that the majority of people on the planet find exercise to be daunting. They don’t like the “pain” and “discomfort” that comes with exercising and pushing your body to new limits.
But you’re different. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this blog. You’d probably be off eating bonbons and watching soap operas.
We’re here to get results. Plain and simple!
But even for someone like yourself, there are still some ways we can make exercise more enjoyable. After all, the goal is to associate as much pleasure to the experience as possible so that you look forward to repeating it over and over again.
Here 5 Ways to Make Exercising More Enjoyable
1. Workout with a friend or trainer
Just having someone beside you can make all the difference for your workouts. You can schedule your workouts together, push each other, and build your friendship further doing something more productive than “going for drinks”.
2. Take before and after pictures
Nothing can be more satisfying that seeing your body transform once you stick to a good exercise program. Most people have goals that revolve around how they look so the only to see that progress is by taking pictures. Since success breeds success, the more you see yourself changing in the right direction, the more you’ll want to continue doing what you’re doing.
3. Put on some tunes
I personally have a tough time working out without good music. So for most of my workouts, I’ll load up my iPod with some bumpin’ drum & bass, house, or anything else that gets my juices flowing. You can too. The difference can be night and day!
4. Challenge yourself each workout
Each time you go workout challenge yourself by setting new targets and “personal bests”. See if you can lift 1% more than you’re last workout. Or do 1 more rep or 1 more minute on your cardio intervals. You’ll be amazed at how much more motivated this will make you.
5. Reward yourself
During and after each workout you need to take time to acknowledge your successes and reward yourself. Doing so will help to engrain that working out is fun and rewarding. I wouldn’t necessarily advise rewarding yourself with food but find something that you can look forward to.Â
Got any tips of your own? I’d love to hear how you make exercise enjoyable.
