Interval Workout That Nearly Made Me Puke!
by Yuri in Fitness Training
Well, I just got in from the gym and happy that I made it home in one piece.Â
The reason…
I just put myself through an intense strength training interval workout that made me feel like throwing up after I was done.Â
Now, this isn’t a normal feeling I get when I workout but this weekend (in Montreal visiting family) featured way too much food and I think my body (or my digestive system) wasn’t ready for a heavy duty workout this morning – or was it?
Here’s what I did:
10-minute warm-up running on treadmill followed by dynamic stretching.
Then I completed 4 sets using the following 3 “big” movements:
1. Barbell Squat Presses
2. Reverse Pull-ups
3. Bench Press
Seems pretty straight forward but here’s where this interval workout gets really interesting. As I mentioned, 4 sets were completed and the workout protocol looked like this:
Set 1 = 15 reps for all exercises
Set 2 = 12 reps for all exercises
Set 3 = 10 reps for all exercises
Set 4 = 8 reps for all exercises
There was no rest between each exercise and only 1 minute of rest once all 3 exercises were completed for a set. Furthermore, the squat presses and bench presses were done with increasing weights that only allowed me to perform the required number of repetitions.Â
If you don’t think strength training can serve as an amazing cardio workout then you need to try this workout and experience it firsthand. Your heart will feel like it’s going to jump out of your chest!
