FitterU: Weeks 2 & 3

by in Client Journeys

fitter_u_week_2_and_3Hello beautiful people! I missed my post last week, so I’ll just combine two weeks into this one post.

I’m done with weeks two and three of the FitterU 12 week program.

Things are going quite well, so far. Current stats as of this morning:

Weight: 116.4 lbs
Waist: 26 in.
Hips: 36 3/8 in.
Thigh: 22 in.
Body fat: 25.13%
BMI: 22.7

The main stat I’m interested in is the body fat percentage, which has gone down by almost 2%. Yay! Also, I haven’t had any migraines since I started this program, which makes life much easier.

Week 2

Day 4 was a challenging workout. I was struggling by the time we got to the third circuit. For the intervals I let the kids pick whatever exercise they wanted to do. Michael voluntarily did burpies! That’s pretty cool for an 8-year-old.

Day 4 was challenging, but Day 5 was really hard! We did three circuits back-to-back and ended with one longer-than-usual set of intervals. Shorter recovery periods and lots of sweat dripping down my face! And then there’s Yuri in his very chipper voice saying, “This is really hard work.” And I’m thinking, “You’re telling me!”

Yuri has mentioned more than once something about getting a runner’s high type feeling about 30 minutes or so after a good workout. I think there must be something wrong with me, though, because I’m always beat after a workout.

Day 6 was a really fun workout. The format alternated between circuits and interval sessions. I much prefer this format over doing all the circuits one after another and then the intervals all together like on Day 5. It seems to be easier that way. I must have worked out fairly hard, though, because I was pretty sore for the next couple days.

I saw a lot of gains this week. I was able to increase my reps on some exercises, increase my weights on others, and I’m finally able to stack my feet when doing the side plank. In the past, I’ve always had to have both feet on the floor kind of in-line with each other, but now I can stack one on top of the other like in the picture!

Week 3

Day 7 was another challenging workout, but not as hard as Day 5. It ended with 12 intervals, which I thought would be really hard, so instead of choosing one exercise for all the intervals, I chose three different exercises and rotated through them, which made it much easier than expected. During the cool-down, Yuri gave a list of about ten reasons why interval training is so efficient and effective, which was all very interesting.

On Day 8 my husband joined us, so our basement was pretty crowded. I was mostly distracted by worrying that he was going to bust my exercise ball since he’s much bigger than I am. He practically flattened it doing hamstring roll-ins! I must have gotten some good work in, though, because I was sore the next day again.

I had to skip Day 9 because I had a headache. Not a migraine, though, so that’s good. I didn’t want it to get worse, so I decided to take it easy.

I’m finding that one of the things I like most about the FitterU workouts is that they go by so quickly. Because of the way they’re split up into 30 seconds here, 60 seconds there, a couple minutes rest … we often find ourselves saying, “It’s over already?!” Makes it easier to push yourself just a little bit harder, and it helps keep the kids on board.

Off to play some racquetball with the fam. See you next week!

Great work Terri and thanks for the update. Congrats on upping the intensity where needed (ie. weights and/or). It’s evident that you’re already showing some great progress! Keep it up.
