FitterU 12-week Program: Week 1

by in Client Journeys

fitteru_week_1Hello beautiful people!

Week 1 of the FitterU 12-week program is done! Workouts this week were good: challenging but not too hard. I would say Day 2 was the easiest for me. I had a lot of energy that day and really had fun with the workout, which was kind of fitting because that was what Yuri was talking about during part of the workout. At one point, he said something about laughing at the exercises. I let out this loud, diabolical laugh, which made my kids both start laughing and giggling. Exercising is easier when smiling.

I struggled a bit with Day 1 and Day 3. I think the difference was that I worked those days and then came home and exercised after work. On Day 2, I was off work. I had a smoothie for breakfast and then exercised about an hour or so after that. I think that is why I had so much more energy during my Day 2 workout. I think maybe I will start taking a smoothie to work on FitterU days to drink about an hour before I go home.

Overall, I’d say Day 2 was the easiest. Then, Day 1. Day 3 was the hardest out of the 3 workout days. Again, I really think this had more to do with my energy levels on those days than the difficulty of the workouts themselves.

My kids really like the FitterU workouts. They say it is the funnest workout series we’ve done.

During the warm ups, we chase each other around, dance, play follow the leader, and all kinds of things like that. During the working part of the intervals, we do things like standing mountain climbers and sprinters. During the rest periods of the intervals, my 8-year-old likes to do martial arts moves and imitate moves he sees on video games. On cardio days and rest days, we’ll ride bikes or play racquetball (we don’t really do rest days).

It’s a great way to break up their day and have fun together. I’m a multi-tasker. I hear people talk about where to find time in their day to exercise and spend time with their kids. This accomplishes both for me at the same time. Plus, it helps me teach them good fitness habits while they’re still young.

I have a lot of the same thoughts as Diana posted last week, especially about keeping up with my house work. I have spaces that need a good clearing out of old junk, old “non-electronic reading material” mostly. I’m not a hoarder or anything, but I think I could be in about 25 years if I don’t do something about this. There’s just something about house work that I really, really don’t like … no, it’s not the actual work that I don’t like. It’s getting started that’s the hardest part. If I can get myself to actually get started, I go and go and go ’till it’s all done. Hmmm … inertia.

Great work Terri. I love the fact that you’ve gotten your kids involved in the workouts. Just think of the long-term benefit that’s going to have for them. Amazing!

I know! You’ll see in the post I made today that Michael (my 8 year old) did burpies voluntarily for one of our interval sets. Awesome!

Thank you for another essential article. Where else could anyone get that kind of information in such a complete way of writing? I have a presentation incoming week, and I am on the lookout for such information.
